This is brilliantly written novel by Vishwas Patil upon the life of Chatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.  ‘Chatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj’ was eldest son of the (Swarajya) Maratha empire fonder ‘Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Maharani Sai Bai’.  He was one of the most controversial as well as bravest personality in the Maratha’s History.

Sambhaji Maharaj, the young king, the second Maratha Chatrapati who succeeded the throne afer his father the great Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, afer lots of efforts.  Because Annaji Datto, Somaji Datto and saome other courtiers wanted to crown his minor stepbrother Rajaram, as Chatrapati and wanted to take full control over Swarajya.  Sambhaji’s step mother Soyara Bai  was involved in plan.  But Maratha’s Sarsenapati (Supreme Commander of Maratha force) Hambeerrao Mohite who was Soyarabai’s brother, supported Sambhaji.  It was chiefly because of his support that Samnhaji was able to ascend to the throne. He became Chtrapati of Swarajya at the age of 22.

When he became Chatrapati he developed Swarajya’s strong army, make safe Swarajya from enimies.  Samhaji fought with Mughal Empire, Siddies of Janjira, Portuguese of Goa, Chikkadevraj of Mysore, British of Bombay.  But main and big enemy of Swarajya was Mughal, he continuously fought the Mughal for eight consecutive yers, but did bot let them capture either any of fort of Maratha or part of  Swarajya.

But due his Brother-in-law who was Mughal courtier Ganoji Shirke  Sambhaji Maharaj arrested by Mughal.  He was killed by Mughal very cruely at the age of 32.  Aim of his life was development of Swarajya, protect Swrajya's people and achive maximum success.  He was great warrior.

But some historians in last centuries and some contemporary writers have doubted Sambhaji Maharaj’s ability as a rural.  So they have portrayed him as ineffective and ulchoholic person and malign his character.  This was done so that people should not follow his legacy.  Well they were sucessful for some year but eventully the truth are and real ‘Sambhaji’ understood by people.  And this book by Vishwas Patil will help us understand him better.  This is absolutely must read book for everyone. If I have to rate this book I will give FIVE STARS (*****).
