Avatar Movie Review

Avatar is a movie, far ahead of its time – at least on the technological grounds. It has rung in a whole new era of film-making and reinvented the art of cinema.

Talking about the visual effects, the technology used definitely keeps the audience spell bound. James Cameron, the director of the movie, had waited since 1990s after the big blockbuster Titanic, of the technology to develop, so that he could create a film which he had in his mind. The film released on 18th December, 2009

The world of Avatar is so minutely constructed that the virtual world seems almost inextricable with the human senses. The world of Pandora takes you on an exciting journey. And the 3D effect surely accentuates the nuances of the delicate piece of this James Cameron masterpiece. Scenes in the movies like The Floating Mountains and the chase of the Thanator were unbelievable. The nocturnal scenes captured in the movie were one of its many highlights.

Such a visual treat was surely unheard of till date, even in this modern era of film-making. It was a definite first not just for the Hollywood SFX industry, but also for the cinema audience the world over.

The actors did a brilliant job with what they had.

The music of the movie forms a montage that fits so well to the mood of the movie, which could otherwise so easily drown itself by the awesome visual effects

To watch the movie for 162 minutes in the theatre was a little tiring. But you sure can’t afford missing even a single shot of the movie. At first, having watched its trailer, I was a bit skeptic about the movie. But I changed my opinion completely in the first half hour of the movie. Avatar is surely an aberration – a delightful one. I never thought it would turn out this way.

Cameron did them justice to the Avatar fans by releasing the extended and uncut version of the movie in 2010.

The detailing in the movie is unmistakably refined. It was so unlike any traditional animated movie; it was so much more real. But the storyline gets slow at certain point of time.

I would recommend watching the movie at least for a time.
